In the month May 2009, a total of 2,100 patients were treated. Of which 1,118 were female (53.23%), 590 were children (28.09%) while 392 were male (18.66%).

We urgently require the following medical supplies and equipment to continue to provide urgent medical care to the IDPs.

UM Healthcare Trust has joined hands with some leading relief organizations in providing urgent support to IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) in rural Mardan district. We have opened up our facilities as the central point to run operations for the IDPs in the region. Our area of operations are near the border of Buner District with Mardan where an estimated 100,000 refugees are in need of critical help. There is little or no government support in this area.

Free Medical Camp for IDPs
UM Healthcare Trust in collaboration with NUST, APPNA and other stake holders has begun a massive healthcare relief effort for IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) streaming in from Buner and Swat. The efforts are based out of our medical facility in village Zahidabad, rural Mardan District and 4 km from the town of Rustum (NWFP, Pakistan). In the month of April 2009, a total of 2,188 patients were treated. Of which 1,064 were females (48.63%), 597 were children (27.29%) while 527 were male (24.09%).

UM Healthcare Trust in collaboration with Lackson Medical Complex, Swabi (NWFP, Pakistan) organized a free eye camp for the poor at its rural Mardan facility in village Zahidabad. A total of 150 patients were treated during the day by medical doctors. 25 of the patients were then selected for free eye surgery. This is the first of its kind eye camp of its kind in the area. We hope to hold more of such camps in the near future.

In the month of March 2009, a total of 2,626 patients were treated. Of which 1,425 were females (54.27%), 640 were children (24.37%) while 561 were male (21.36%).

Disease Trends for February 2009
In the month of February 2009, a total of 2,333 were treated. Of which 1,219 were females (52.25%), 632 were children (27.09%) while 482 were male (20.66%).

Disease Trends January 2009
In the month of January 2009, a total of 2,600 patients were treated. Of which 1,396 were females (53.69%), 687 were children (26.42%) while 517 were male (19.88%).

UM Healthcare Trust in collaboration with NUST organized a medical camp for the poor and received an overwhelming response. Over 500 patients showed up (50% females) from neighboring villages to our health facility in rural Mardan, NWFP (200 KM north of Islamabad).

We also distributed free medicines to the poor and needy and treated them through a group of volunteer doctors at near zero cost (US$0.40/patient or PKR 30/patient).
The facility in village Zahidabad, Mardan District, NWFP, is now treating close to 2,000 patients in a month with majority of the patients being female.
